Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman John Culberson (R-TX)

Catherine Knowles currently serves as Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman John Culberson (R-TX) who was elected in 2000 and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. Catherine has worked for Rep. Culberson since July 2011, and provides advice on a range of issues including health care, transportation, and constitutional law. Prior to joining the Culberson office, she worked for Fight Colorectal Cancer for nearly two years directing all policy and government affairs-related activities including federal and state lobbying efforts. Prior to joining Fight Colorectal Cancer, Catherine spent five years on Capitol Hill working for Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN) and Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), beginning as an intern and advancing to legislative counsel after earning her law degree from Indiana University-Bloomington. In addition to her Hill experience, Catherine has worked for the Federal Communications Commission, the National Telecommunications & Information Administration as well as two DC law firms. A native of Washington, DC, she has a bachelorís degree in philosophy and psychology from Boston University.

During her time in the Granger office, the Congresswoman was invited to speak at a WGR health care task force event. Catherine helped prepare the Congresswoman for the event, and decided to join WGR after attending the breakfast and getting to know the WGR health care task force chairs and other WGR members. Since then, Catherine has attended numerous WGR events over the years that have helped her get up-to-speed on current issues and get to know industry leaders. Most recently, Catherine joined the transportation task force and in August 2014 was selected to serve as one of the task force co-chairs. Catherine looks forward to working with her fellow task force co-chairs to put together a robust calendar of events for 2015.
