February 2010

On Your Mark...Get Set...Go!

On Tuesday, November 2, 2010, 37 states and two territories will elect new governors. Of the 39 elections, ten are considered toss-ups.  In addition to party power in the states, at stake is control over redistricting of legislative and congressional maps as well as the implementation of federal policies - notably health care, financial reform, and climate change – across the country.

Gearing up for what will be a wild political drama in the states, the State Relations Working Group is positioned to keep WGR members informed on the policies and politics that will dominate the headlines in 2010.

In February, the State Relations Working Group and the PACs, Politics and Grassroots taskforce have teamed up to host a panel discussion Race for the Governor’s Mansion 2010 with a panel of political strategists to help guide WGR members through the politics and policies that will shape the 39 gubernatorial races.  The panel will be hosted by McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP at 1900 K St., and is possible thanks to our generous gold sponsor State and Federal, and bronze sponsors SPI: The Plastic Industry Trade Association and Stateside Associates.

The working group is planning an aggressive agenda of small and large briefings to ensure our membership is aware of developments in both policy and politics.  Stay tuned for schedule updates.
