Membership

Do I qualify for Public Sector membership?
Public Sector members are recognized as having professional responsibilities
in the field of government relations through employment by any federal,
state or local governmental entity. This does not include non-profit
organizations. If you receive a government salary, you are eligible
for the discounted Public Sector fee.
Do I qualify for Student membership?
Student Members are full-time students enrolled in a College or University
who are interested in the field of government relations. The student
membership was designed for students with little or no source of income.
Do you have a membership category for government relations professionals located outside of the DC Metropolitan
area?
WGR has a “satellite” membership category for individuals
located outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The annual membership
fee is $100 and the initiation fee is waived.
Are men eligible for membership?
Anyone in the field of government relations is eligible to join WGR,
male or female.
Is my membership transferable?
Individual memberships in WGR are non-transferable. If a member leaves
their organization, the membership goes with them. If your company
is interested in a corporate membership, consider joining WEN
- the WGR Empowerment Network.
Events
What is the weather policy for events?
WGR follows the weather policies of the Federal Government. If the
government is closed due to weather conditions, WGR events will be cancelled.
Events will be rescheduled (to the best of our ability) and all registrations
will be honored at that time. Refunds or credits will be provided
if the event is not rescheduled or you are unable to attend on the new
date. If the government is granted liberal leave, all WGR events will
proceed as scheduled.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
WGR registration fees must be paid in advance and are non-refundable
whether or not you attend the event. Substitutions are acceptable but
an additional fee will be charged for attendees with a higher registration
category.
Can I send a colleague to an event in my place?

Does WGR hold meetings outside of Washington, D.C.?
WGR is a local organization that rarely holds events outside of the Washington,
D.C. area. Most events are held downtown or on Capitol Hill.

How can I get involved in a Task Force?
Join a Task Force - If you are a member who

How do I start a new Task Force?

Is there a separate fee for Toastmasters?
There is a separate membership fee to join WGR Toastmasters. For more
information and to receive an application, please contact Toastmasters
President, Susie DuPuis at
202.457.6582. All upcoming Toastmasters meetings are listed on the
calendar of events.
What if I get an “Access Denied” message and am
unable to access the Membership Directory, Job Bank and/or Governance
sections of the Website?
You must be a member in good standing to access the MEMBERS ONLY portions
of the website. If you believe you are receiving this message in error
or wish to speak to a WGR representative to resolve the problem, please
contact the WGR Office at 703.299.8546.
How can I post a position in the WGR Job Bank?
Members can post jobs at no cost. Send job descriptions to the WGR Office
in Microsoft Word format. Non-members can post jobs for a nominal fee.
Contact the WGR Office for a job posting form. There is no cost to
post a job for the Public Sector.
