On September 27, the Transportation and Infrastructure Task Force of Women in Government Affairs hosted Highways and Transit Subcommittee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) for a 20:1 breakfast. Chairman Graves also serves on the General Aviation Caucus and is a general aviation pilot. Chairman Graves was able to discuss a variety of pending transportation issues, including the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund, the upcoming hearings the Subcommittee is planning on the nationís infrastructure needs, his support of the House FAA Reauthorization bill, as well as the possibility of earmarks for infrastructure and water projects returning.  During the breakfast, Chairman Graves stressed the importance of finding bi-partisan solutions to the infrastructure needs facing our country across all modes of transportation.

The Transportation & Infrastructure Task Force held a congressional coffee with Congresswoman Grace Flores Napolitano. The Congresswoman represents Californiaís 32nd District and is the most senior California member of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure where she currently serves as the top Democrat on the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment. The Congresswoman also serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and is a long-time advocate for conservation. The group wasvery lucky to hear her perspectives on water policy, her work on the House T&I Committee and the impact she has had as a senior female member of Congress.
