EVENT DESCRIPTION

T&I Task force members will hear from Jillian Kinder, Legislative Representative, American Public Transportation Association (APTA). APTA is a nonprofit international association of more than 1,600 organizations, including public transit agencies across bus, rail, ferry modes, as well as private sector suppliers.

Jillian played a key role in executing a successful fly-in to Capitol Hill during a federal government shutdown. With the budget stalemate (then) in its fourth week, 75 APTA members traveled to Capitol Hill October 22, to meet with almost 100 Members of Congress and staff. T&I Task force members will hear how APTA was able to pull this off and how APTA approached meetings about funding public transit with an audience of Capitol Hill staffers who have been working and missing paychecks under the lapse in appropriations, plus what were APTA’s takeaways.
