The PACs, Politics, and Grassroots Committee hosted an interactive crowd sourcing event yesterday to assist the Library of Congress in transcribing the personal papers, speeches and diaries of the women who were instrumental in women gaining the right to vote in 1920. The documents we transcribed explore the daily lives of these determined leaders and their stories of hope, perseverance, sacrifice, courage, creativity, and conviction, as well as how everyday Americans participated in and reacted to the suffrage movement.
Over the course of the year, the PAC, Politics and Grassroots Committee will continue to explore and celebrate the Centennial celebration of the passage of the 19th Amendment through events designed to educate the WGR membership on the contributions the suffragettes made over nearly two hundred years that made our right to vote a reality.
Thank you to all the volunteers who attended the event and to FiscalNote for hosting us. We hope to see more of you at our Happy Hour next month to celebrate the birthday of Susan B. Anthony. You can registerhere.
