Last month, WGR hosted it’s first-of-its-kind Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Virtual Summit! The Summit, held over the course of three Tuesdays (July 14th; July 21st; and July 28th), focused on the themes of Education, Ownership and Action, respectively. Each day, over 200 attendees gained valuable insights and practical tips from dynamic speakers on a range of DEI topics such as: privilege; allyship, microagressions; and systemic racism – just to name a few. Attendees also participated in interactive breakout sessions to further enhance their knowledge, as well as being able to connect with one another at the end of each Summit day via the WGR DEI Committee-hosted networking sessions! During the course of the Summit, attendees were assigned “homework” further encourage their learning, in addition to being invited to craft their own #MyDEIPledge [e.g. a DEI-related statement or goal that one would seek to follow and/or implement in a professional or personal setting].
The DEI Summit – a WGR Signature Event- will take place annually in the month of July (hopefully, in person beginning 2021) which has also been designated as WGR DEI Month!
