Women in Government Relations Announces 2020 EIA Lifetime Achievement Award

Washington, D.C. - September 30, 2020 This week WGR announced the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the annual Professional Women in Advocacy Excellence in Advocacy Awards. The award, formerly known as the Veteran Practitioner award, recognizes senior level women in the field of advocacy and government relations for the body of work spanning their whole career.

This year’s honoree is Nancy LeaMond of AARP. As AARP's chief advocacy and engagement officer, Nancy LeaMond has responsibility for driving the organization’s social mission on behalf of Americans 50-plus and their families. She leads government affairs and legislative campaigns for AARP, widely seen as one of the most powerful advocacy organizations. She also manages public education, volunteerism, multicultural outreach and engagement, and she directs major AARP initiatives that include supporting family caregivers through advocacy, education and innovative programs, and expanding AARP’s local footprint in communities across the country. She leads a team of 650 staff members and more than 17,000 volunteers across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

WGR is honoring Nancy to celebrate her extensive and decorated career. In addition to her excellent work on behalf of AARP, Nancy has been a steadfast advocate for women working in government relations - promoting women through mentor programs, community and business development, and as a board member of the International Women’s Forum. She is a big supporter of both WGR and Professional Women in Advocacy, supporting both groups on many occasions – imparting wisdom and generously serving as unofficial mentor to our organizations’ leaders. She practices workplace inclusion by intentionally employing diverse and highly qualified women and deliberately devoting time and resources to their development and advancement. We are thrilled to lift up the outstanding achievements of a women who has tirelessly worked to uplift others – Nancy, we salute you!

Join us to celebrate Nancy and all the award finalists at the Excellence in Advocacy Awards on November 10th, 4:30 - 5:30pm. Registration is complimentary but required. Register here
