As part of our ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts, WGR has launched a new membership category to attract and serve executive level women who wish to deepen their professional networks, share ideas, develop new career and business opportunities, and support the community of women in the field.
The June 30th inaugural gathering of the Executive Leadership Forum featured the inspiring former U.S. Ambassador and government relations professional Sally Cowal. Sally shared her personal experiences climbing the diplomatic ladder at the U.S. State Department over 25 + years and serving in advocacy and external relations roles at major organizations including the American Cancer Society, the UN Program on HIV-AIDS and Population Services International. Rather than rest on her professional laurels, Sally now puts her skills in diplomacy and leadership to work as co-owner with her husband of the award-winning Muse Winery in Shenandoah County, Virginia where she spends every day as an unofficial ambassador to the region to guests from around the country and the world. Gloria Dittus, Founder/Chair of Story Partners, and Elizabeth Reicherts, VP of Global Public Policy at GM, welcomed the 20+ virtual participants with a toast and led a discussion on the vision for the Executive Leadership Forum. The Forum is designed for women who: - Hold a senior executive position within a company, lobbying firm, or trade association (Vice President, Partner, President, C-Suite, or equivalent); or
- Serve in a senior level position in a congressional office or in a federal, state, or local administration (e.g. Chief of Staff, Staff Director, Asst. or Deputy Asst. Secretary); and
- Has 20+ years of experience in government, government relations, or a related field.
In addition to being able to participate in other WGR events, Forum members will be invited to Forum-only events to explore topics and issues relevant to their career journey at intimate dinners and salon style events. Any individual who joins prior to August 31, 2021 will be considered a Charter Member signifying your advance commitment to our vision of creating generations of powerful women advocates. Additional information about the Forum is available here or by contacting WGR Executive Director Emily Bardach at ebardach@wgr.org.
