Inspired by a donation drive held by Rep. Grace Meng which highlighted “period poverty” and the impact of the unaddressed natural need of menstrual hygiene products, WGR’s PPD Committee is spearheading the 7th Annual WGR-wide period product drive during the month of October.

Event Description
Background:Low-income and homeless women and girls often struggle to afford the supplies they need to manage their periods with dignity. Did you know that poor menstrual hygiene is linked to missing school and long-term health concerns,
including maternal mortality? Lack of access to clean and ready supplies is a worldwide problem highlighted by the UN and included on the 17 Sustainable Development goals. While we may not be able to help everywhere, we can do more to support women in
our area during their periods.
Regardless of income, women spend a significant amount of money on purchasing menstruation hygiene products each year. Beyond being cost-prohibitive, different populations of women and girls may face additional
challenges accessing menstrual hygiene products. This is especially the case in times of economic hardship and disruption like the pandemic. The good news is that we can help, and it’s easy to do so.
How can you help:
This year, contributing is easy. Just use this Amazon Wishlist to contribute at least one package of period products—the preference is for pads—during the month of October. Giving is made easy through use of this link because products will be delivered directly to the Greater DC Diaper Bank.

Payment, Replacement & Refund Policy WGR event registration fees must be paid in advance. If you are unable to attend, you may send
a substitute, however you are responsible for the difference in fees if the individual is a non-member. The deadline to receive a refund is three (3) business days prior to the event. The request must be received in writing, prior to the deadline.
Consent to use of Photographic Images Registration and attendance at WGR events constitutes an agreement by the registrant to WGR’s
use and distribution of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs and videotapes.
