Task Forces
The WGR task forces focus on creating educational programming and networking opportunities around timely federal and state policy issues and functional training for professional development. Types of events include periodic briefings, policy
roundtables, expert panel discussions, and brown bag luncheons with policymakers and other government affairs professionals.
Members are encouraged to participate on task forces by attending monthly brown bag lunch meetings or helping to execute an event. If you are interested in receiving event emails and playing a greater role, join a task force group or

Education
The Education Task Force helps our diverse membership advance their careers by enhancing their knowledge of education issues, providing a forum for discussion, expanding their network, exposing them to practitioners across education
sectors, and introducing them to new technologies and tools that can improve their effectiveness and efficiencies. This group offers free members-only monthly in-person meetings to share information and special events with featured
speakers and networking opportunities throughout the year. We serve as a resource by providing information about and demonstrations of new tools to help our members grow and succeed professionally. We welcome and encourage the
involvement of our members in planning briefings and networking events.
Energy, Environment & Agriculture
The Energy, Environment & Agriculture Task Force provides networking and informational programs about current events and trends that affect agricultural, energy, and environmental policy. The task force seeks to provide a balanced
look at these issues. Representatives of industry, government, and public interest groups are strongly encouraged to participate in task force events. Often, the task force will coordinate its events with other WGR task forces
in order to present a richer program that includes factual information along with political and policy contexts.
Financial Services
The Financial Services Task Force offers a unique opportunity for professionals from all sectors of the financial services community to engage with relevant policy makers, industry experts, and colleagues on the issues impacting the
financial community. This group explores policy issues on financial services and opportunities for tax reform through a series of meetings, educational panels, and networking events featuring government agency officials, congressional
members, staff, and private sector experts.
Health & Social Policies
The Health & Social Policies Task Force is comprised of members from the public and private sectors who share a common interest in shaping health care and social policy. By bringing together congressional, federal agency and health
care industry leaders, the task force provides all WGR members with unique networking and educational opportunities. In addition to briefings and networking events, at the beginning of each year, task force conducts a House and
Senate congressional staff panel to discuss the upcoming legislative cycle.
PACs, Politics & Grassroots
The PACs, Politics & Grassroots Task Force provides members with career enhancement opportunities through a variety of professional development and networking activities tailored to those with a penchant for all things political.
Briefings, events and conference content from an impressive mix of policymakers, government affairs professionals, and political pundits draw crowds from across WGR’s membership and beyond. Whether you’re looking to grow your PAC,
your grassroots campaign, or your own personal Rolodex, WGR’s PACs, Politics & Grassroots Task Force has something for you.
Regulatory Affairs
The Regulatory Affairs Task Force provides a forum for professional development, training, and networking tailored to those members engaged in working for or with executive branch agencies. By enabling an environment for WGR members
to share best practices while accessing forums lead by procedural experts and practitioners the task force can serve a full range of regulatory affairs professionals. The task force hosts lunch and learns, the recurring Regulatory
Training Series and coordinates the development of member resources such as “Writing Comments – Things to Think About.”
State Relations
The State Relations Task Force is dedicated to advancing and empowering women in the state government relations industry by educating our members about policy issues and trends at the state level, leveraging relationships, and integrating
state and local perspectives into the broader WGR federal policy conversation. The task force facilitates this by providing WGR members with state-specific forums for professional development, meaningful networking, and sharing
best practices. The task force hosts quarterly Lunch-and-Learns with state and local elected women; collaborates with state-specific organizations, agencies and their staff in DC and at conferences; and hosts an annual event, “Evolution
of State Relations."
Telecom, Tech & IP
The Telecom, Tech & IP Task Force enables individuals to come together to share knowledge, gain new information and network. This task force brings key members of Congress, congressional staff, administration representatives, regulatory
officials and industry leaders together to discuss current and upcoming telecommunications, technology, and IP issues.
Transportation & Infrastructure
The Transportation & Infrastructure Task Force welcomes all infrastructure professionals to network, discuss current issues and hear first-hand from industry leaders. Throughout the year, the task force invites key members of Congress,
agency officials and their staffs to provide off-the-record briefings to task force members. In addition, the task force hosts events on relevant industry issues such as highway, rail, transit, aviation and water, as well as provides
social networking opportunities.
