December 2021 DEI Committee Blog

WGR’S Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee gathered for its final meeting of 2021 on Tuesday, December 14. The discussion topic centered around interfaith awareness in the holiday season. A number of committee members highlighted the various ways they celebrate and/or acknowledge the holiday season, while other committee members noted that although they do not celebrate and/or acknowledge any one particular holiday, the season itself does offer a time for reflection and exploration.

As committee members also pondered the onset of winter, many shared the various ways that they mark the occasion: sipping hot cocoa around a roaring fireplace, purchasing a new calendar, viewing a favorite movie—so many wonderful ways to welcome the season! In addition, some committee members noted they usually take time off work and/or re-schedule meetings until after the New Year—great ways to also acknowledge the need for self-care during an often stressful and sad time for many.

The DEI Committee closed out its final meeting of 2021 by taking a look back at all of the great accomplishments of the committee during the year, as well as a peek into what’s on the horizon for WGR and the DEI Committee in 2022 (did someone say a DEI Style Guide is in the making?). A toast to a wonderful and safe holiday season and a, 'Happy New Year' adjourned our December 2021 meeting.

Join us in the new year as we kick off 2022 with our 2021 DEI Summit Six-Month Check In Event, scheduled for Tuesday, January 11 from 11:30 AM – 1 PM (ET). You can register for this event here.
