Health Coverage Policy “Back to Basics” Series
The Health Coverage Policy “Back to Basics” Series for Advocates is an opportunity for health policy experts and newbies alike to learn about (or get a refresher on) all of the major health coverage programs in the United States. Each of the sessions will be devoted to a specific topic, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance. Speakers will include industry policy experts, and there will be ample time for questions.
The series will kick off with a “Basics of Health Insurance” session, where participants will learn essential terminology and the basic mechanics of health insurance. Sessions 2 through 4 will cover individual programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance. Session 5 will cover the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and what changes the law made to coverage, as well as recent developments. Finally, Session 6 will discuss value based care and the future of health insurance. Speakers will be added to the agenda as they are confirmed.
